If you find my pants in the freezer...

I'm cleaning them.

I know. It sounds crazy. But you guys - I am completely sold on this quick and easy alternative to "washing" your pants.

Maybe you've got some "nice" ripped jeans, and you don't want the holes to get bigger. Or maybe you've got some wax-coated pants you don't want to fade.

I have these amazing Rag & Bone wax-coated pants (a much more affordable alternative to leather, my friends). And unfortunately I know from past experience with a previous pair that the washing wachine will cause a slow and painful "pants death" by stripping them of the wax and leaving behind a weird, splotchy, residuey-lookin' thing. And ain't nobody want that.

So, unless you spill something on your pants (guac. somehow it's always guac), you can get all the benefits of washing while protecting and preserving them. Simply:

1. fold your pants
2. put them in a ziploc
3. place them in the freezer (yep, right there next to the frozen grapes)

Come morning, any odor will be gone, elasticity restored, and your pants will be ready to go for your next hot date. (Just make sure you let them "thaw" before putting them on - brr! leg freeze!)

Now next time I come over I just may find your pants in the freezer :)

I pluck my eyebrows. I have friends who get theirs waxed. I tried that once. In seventh grade. Everyone was doing it. Or so I thought. It was one of those things you think is a great idea, and then in the words of Ron Burgundy, you "immediately regret this decision."

I'm not one to follow the crowd or succumb to peer pressure, but I was not always so...

I moved from a tiny private, Christian elementary school to a huge public middle school. I'd been completely sheltered in every way - wore a uniform to school so I barely had any clothes, had pretty much only ever listened to Christian music. Then suddenly I was thrown into a world I knew nothing about - a world where all the girls had at least one, if not nine, Kate Spade purses, a closet full of rootie kazooties (pattern skorts. don't ask), and a boyfriend - huh?

I made my best efforts to catch on quickly but always felt about two (okay, 32 if we're being really honest here) steps behind. One day a couple of my new friends were talking about how they get their eyebrows waxed every 26.3 days. I politely excused myself, went to the bathroom, and carefully examined my virgin eyebrows. 

Hours later I successfully convinced my mom to take me to the "waxing lady for children." (Okay, that wasn't really her name. But come on.) And minutes later I left with perfectly shaped eyebrows... And ninth degree burns just below my eyebrows. 

Needless to say I have never done that again. No thank you. I will pluck. 

I actually found this bedside table at Pottery Barn that fits perfectly on this oddly narrow wall in my room. I turned it into a vanity where I can sit and put on makeup.

summer staples

Summer is hands down my favorite season. I'm a warm weather girl. I grew up in the Texas heat running around the neighborhood barefoot all summer long, hunting frogs with my little brother (see pic below), swimming in our backyard, hanging out at the lake, and pretty much any other activity that required one item of clothing: a swimsuit. 

I've since expanded my summer wardrobe. And living in Santa Monica, even the hottest days can get chilly, especially in the mornings and at night. Needless to say I can't get away with running around in just a swimsuit anymore. Not to mention, I'm not five years old. But I digress.

So without further ado, here are my top 5 summer staples!
